Blepharitis

Blepharitis can be best described as a common and persistent inflammation of the eyelids. Typical symptoms of this condition include irritation, itching, and occasionally, a red eye.

Those who have frequent occurrences of oily skin, dandruff or dry eyes may encounter this type of problem. This type of condition can occur at a very young age developing throughout life as a chronic condition and eventually develop later in life.

Typically in Blepharitis, both upper and lower eyelids become coated with oily debris and bacteria near the base of the eyelashes. Regular cleansing of the lid margin helps control Blepharitis.

Although there is no specific cure for Blepharitis, through a careful program of regular hygiene, it can be controlled.

Your doctor will assist you in determining the best course of action for your treatment.
